How can I give my customers a birthday bonus?

You have the option of offering your customers a special birthday bonus for a defined period of time.

To implement this, three steps must be taken:

Step 1: 

Create the desired birthday reward in the dashboard. Here you will find instructions on how to create a reward.

However, you must not forget to check the box for "Free reward redemption" when creating the reward:

Step 2:

Now create the corresponding automation in the dashboard that activates the free bonus redemption:

  • To do this, go to "More Tools" > "Automations" in the navigation bar.

If you do not see this menu item, please contact our support team so that they can activate it for you. 

  • Create a new automation using the "New Automation +" button.

  • Fill in the following fields here:
    • Name: Use a name here that is understandable to you and everyone else in the team.
    • Check the box next to "Enabled": this is the only way the automation will work.
    • Trigger: Use the "Daily (time)" trigger and select the desired time for sending. We recommend choosing an early time so that your customers can start their day with a nice message in the morning!
    • Minimum time between messages: 360 days, so that automation is triggered only once a year, regardless of whether your customers change their date of birth in the app. This prevents potential fraud!
    • Now add the condition "Birthday" and use the trigger "on birthday." This ensures that the automation is actually triggered on the birthday.
    • So, and now follows the promotion: select the option "Free redemption". 
      • Under "Grant free reward redemption," select the birthday reward you created earlier.
      • Expiration time in days: here you can define how long your customers have to redeem their birthday bonus. After that, the bonus disappears again.

  • Now click "Save" and the automation is ready!

 

Step 3: 

Now there's just one more step: You can link the new reward to your automated birthday campaign (push notification) – this will take your customers directly to the birthday reward.

 

  • To do this, go to Messages > Campaigns in the dashboard.
  • Search for the automated birthday message that has already been saved.
  • Click on the title of the message to view the details.
  • If you haven't already done so, enter the 360 days "Minimum time between messages" here as well.

  • Click "Continue" to access the text of the message.
  • Scroll down and open the "Advanced" section.
    • Here you can now link the birthday bonus

  • Click on the "Save changes" button below and you're done!
