Create a campaign as an email message - step-by-step instructions

This article explains step by step how to send your customers a notification by email.

You have two options for creating your campaigns:

  • As a one-time campaign
  • As an automated campaign

Both are possible in the form of an email, push notification, or SMS.
This article focuses specifically on email notifications.

One-time campaign | e.g., Advent, Easter, or new product in the range

When does it make sense for customers to create a one-time campaign?

  • Special occasions: One-off campaigns are ideal for special events such as Advent, Easter, or other seasonal celebrations.
  • Introduction of new products or services: When a new product or offer is added to the range, customers can be informed in a targeted manner.
  • Special promotions: A one-time campaign is ideal for limited-time promotions such as Black Friday, summer sales, or anniversary discounts.
  • Strengthen customer loyalty: Customer loyalty can be improved by providing personalized content at specific times.
  • Inform customers: e.g., contest has been created, winner has been drawn, etc.

Step-by-step guide | Creating a one-time email campaign for new Christmas products in your range

1. & 2. Open campaign area

  • In the main menu on the left, click on "Messages" and then on "Campaign."

3. Determine the type of campaign

  • In the upper section, you can choose whether you want to send an email, a push notification, or a text message. 
  • For this example, select "Send email. "

4. Determine the type of campaign

  • You can choose between a one-time campaign (e.g., Advent or Easter) or an automated campaign (e.g., for birthdays).
  • For this example, click on "One-time campaign."

  • Choose between "Pre-built templates"or "My templates. "
    Pre-built templates are ideal if you want to get started quickly.
    My templates are templates you have saved from previous campaigns.
  • For this example, select the "New Products" template.

7. Set campaign name

    • Enter a meaningful name for your campaign.
      • Example: New products | Christmas temptations
      • The name is only visible on your dashboard, not to recipients.

8. Enter the subject line for the email

    • Write an appealing subject line for your email.
      • Example: "🌟 Freshly arrived: Discover our latest products!"
      • The subject line should grab attention and spark curiosity.

9. Add dynamic variables

    • To personalize your email, you can insert variables such as the recipient's first name (number 9).
      • Click on "Insert variable in subject line" to see a selection of variables.

10. Select variable

    • Select the appropriate variable from the list (number 10).
      • Example: automatically inserts the recipient's first name.

11. Customize campaign content

  • Select the appropriate modules from the menu under point 11 and customize them according to your preferences.

12. & 13. Award points (optional)

    • You can also award points to your customers through the campaign.
      • To do this, select the number of points under point 12 and a suitable name under point 13.

14. Save and continue

15. Select recipient

      • Dropdown menu:
        • All contacts: Send campaign to everyone.
        • Add manually: Select individual contacts.
        • Use filters: Select contacts based on criteria such as age or segment.
    • Select segments

      • Select target groups such as women over 35 (19 contacts) or families.
    • Save and continue

      • Confirm your selection and click "Continue. "

16. Send email

    • You have the option to choose between "Plan for later" and "Send now"
      • If you want to send your Christmas campaign on the first Sunday of Advent, you can "Schedule for later. "
      • Select "Send now" if you want to inform your customers immediately.

17. & 18. Back to the Campaign Dashboard

    • Select Messages, then Campaign to access the Campaign menu.
    • From here, you can either plan a new campaign,
    • or view your past and planned events
      • Select "New Products | Christmas Temptations" to open the campaign you just created.

20. Campaign statistics

    • The statistics provide a quick overview of the campaign's success. You can see how many recipients were reached and how well the email campaign performed.
    • Campaigns can be managed flexibly using the additional actions (copy/delete).
